Building up a human body


Activity 10
Age group: 6-8 year-olds
Activity: Building up a human body
Vocabulary: body parts (head, eyes, nose, mouth, ears, shoulders, arms, hands, fingers, legs, knees, foot, feet)
Time: 15’
Material: 2 sheets of ‘brown paper’ (papel pardo)
Interaction Pattern: T-Ss

Preparation for the activity: separate the sheets of ‘brown paper’ and some coloured pencils or crayons

 Instructions:


1.   Stick the two sheets of brown paper together.
2.   Choose a S to be the ‘dummy’ and lie down on the floor with arms and legs open.
3.   The T draws the outline of the S.
4.   The T chooses each S at a time to colour or draw the parts of the body that are missing.
5.   Once finished, the T can hang the activity on one of the room walls.

Hot Potato


Activity 1
Age group: 3-5 year-olds
Game: Hot Potato
Vocabulary: Body Parts (head, hair, eyes, nose, mouth, ears, arms, hands, legs and foot / feet)
Time: 15’
Material: soft ball or any other object to be passed around; any song related to body parts (suggestion from the youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFuZ6LPDYQc)
Interaction Pattern: T-Ss  

Preparation for the game: To be played in a classroom. Get a ball and prepare the song to be played.

Instructions:

1.   Sit with Ss in a circle and start passing the ball around as the song is played.
2.   The T chooses the right time to pause the song.
3.   When the T pauses the song, the S who is holding the ball has to name any part of the body.
4.   Then the T continues playing the song and the Ss pass the ball around.
5.   The T repeats the procedures above but the words (body parts) cannot be repeated by the Ss.
6.   If the S who is holding the ball says a word that has been already said, he/she is out of the game.
