Snake Dictation

Activity 1

Age group: 9-10 year-olds

Game: Snake Dictation

Vocabulary: free vocabulary

Time: 15’

Material: some A4 sheets of paper and some pencils

Interaction Pattern: T-Ss

Preparation for the game: separate the material requested and organize the desks in groups of 5

 Instructions:

1.   Divide the class into groups of 5 Ss.

2.   Write a word on the e-board and tell the Ss they will have to write another one that begins with the last letter from the first one and so on. (Example: The T writes: cake , then the next word has to start with e, such as elephant, then the next word has to start  with t, and so on)

3.   The group who writes ten words first wins the game.

4.   At the end, have the groups swap their sheets of paper so as to correct for one another.
