Step onto it

Activity 8
Age group: 3-5 year-olds
Game: Step onto it
Vocabulary: Shapes (circle, square, triangle and rectangle)
Time: 15’
Material: 4 sheets of brown paper(‘papel pardo’ or 40kg)
Interaction Pattern: T-Ss

Preparation for the game: Cut each sheet of brown paper or 40kg in the format of a huge circle, a huge square, a huge triangle and a huge rectangle.

 Instructions:
1.   Sit with Ss in a circle and pre-teach / revise the target vocabulary.
2.   Show the Ss the pictures previously cut in the format of the shapes mentioned.
3.   Drill the target vocabulary with them.
4.   Divide the Ss into two groups or more, depending on the number of Ss.
5.   Put the shapes on the floor with some space between them so that the Ss have enough room to move.
6.   Ask Ss to stand up.
7.   Give them the commands, for example: ‘Five boys go to the square’, ‘Now, three girls go to the circle’.
8.   As you have all the Ss stepping onto the shapes, ask them all to come back to their first positions to restart the game.
